LaMichael Fanning

LaMichael Fanning signed with Alabama in 2011 after playing football for Harris County High School in Hamilton, Georgia. He was ranked in the top 25 at his position by every recruiting site.

Once in Tuscaloosa, Fanning redshirted his freshman year to adjust to the college game.

In his first year of playing, Fanning played in over half of Alabama’s games and recorded four tackles. None of his tackles got more publicity than his solo tackle against Missouri when he body-slammed the running back.

In 2013, fans should expect to see Fanning get more playing time on the defensive line. At 6-foot-7 and 270 pounds, he offers plenty of ability for Alabama’s defense against the hurry-up, no-huddle offenses it will face. Fanning recorded two tackles in Alabama’s 2013 A-day game in April.

Jalston Fowler

Alabama fans hated to see the bowling ball at running back known as Jalston Fowler go down with a leg injury in the second game of the 2012 season.

Coming from Vigor High School in Mobile, Fowler was a four-star running back in 2010. He enrolled early to get an early start with the football team, playing in 11 games in his first year on campus. He made two tackles on special teams while rushing for 111 yards and one touchdown.

As a sophomore in 2011, Fowler served as the third running back for the team behind Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy. He carried the ball 56 times for 385 yards (6.9 yards per carry average) and four tochdowns.

Fans were excited to see Fowler in 2012 behind Eddie Lacy and TJ Yeldon. He showed how great he can be when he played against Michigan in week one, but his season ended the following week when he injured his knee against Western Kentucky. In those two games, he had 11 carries for 85 yards.

I mentioned Fowler in a piece I wrote in February about players returning from injury.

Corey McCarron

Tight end Corey McCarron transferred from South Alabama after his freshman season to play one season with his older brother AJ.  He is listed at 6-foot-2 and 238 pounds.  He did not participate in the 2013 A-Day game.
